The Deepest Cut!

Sixteen-year-old Riley Williams has been able to see ghosts since the car crash that took her mother's life and shattered her family. Guilt-ridden over the belief that she's somehow responsible for her mom's death, Riley is desperate to see her mother's elusive spirit to gain her forgiveness.
When her father moves the family to Scotland so they can all start over, Riley believes her life couldn't get worse––that is until the ghost of nineteen-year-old Ian MacKinnon catches her purposely cutting herself. An uneasy truce quickly turns into friendship, and soon Riley's falling hard for Ian.
Riley believes her gift could help Ian end the curse that has kept him tied to the land for centuries, but that would mean letting him go forever and she's not sure she is strong enough to do that. As if her life wasn't complicated enough, the malevolent spirit of the woman who killed Ian returns and she'll stop at nothing to keep Riley from helping Ian find eternal peace.

Loved this book from the start. Riley and her family move to Scotland after her fathers work takes them there. Riley is sixteen and has had a difficult time dealing with her mothers death. Riley and her mom where in a car accident where her mother was killed and Riley was saved . She has lived with the guilt all this time she thinks she is the reason her mom died she thinks that she is what caused the accident.  After the car accident Riley started seeing ghosts. After her move to Scotland she thought she would have a fresh start. Little did she know that wasnt going to be the case. Her father had bought a old inn and in the back yard was a Old castle. After being in the house for only a few moments she see a ghost. She doesnt say anything due to she doesn't want her father and brother thinking she is crazy and putting her back on medication to fight the supposed visions of ghost.
Riley a girl who can see ghosts only to ignore them for now. She is also a cutter someone who cuts to release pain.
She ends up seeing a Ghost who used to live in the Castle. His Name is Ian this is one ghost she cant ignore with his good looks. She was stunned to see him and instantly fell in love with him.  She finds he has a curse on him that is keeping him forever. Will she be able to break it. She runs into the ghost that is keeping Ian here Laria a slave girl who was hung for poisoning Ian. This girl is bad news when ever she is around she tries to take control of Riley's brother Shane.  This book was a good read. I didn't put it done finished it in a day. Really if you like ghosts witches and spells then this is a good book for you. You will grow to like Riley however I thought it was slightly silly that she falls for Ian the ghost. I mean really if someone who couldn't see ghost walks in and sees her kissing thin air really?? That for me was just silly I guess if you can see ghost you can touch them like they are human and they can kiss you back and you can feel it?  I however think for a 99cent book this is a good one. It was worth the time to read it. I do hope that they have a second book to this book it kind of was left hanging like  there should be a second book.  If you have not read this book yet I would say go buy it! Really it is just 99 cents and its good!

A good fast read and a good story line.

In My Mailbox #5

Its a been awhile since I have done one of these. I have been busy I have bought a few book some were free and some well they just looked good. So for this week these are all kindle books. I guess I have kind of given up on regular books and have become addicted to this little electronic device.  I LOVE IT so anyway here is my list for the week....

Mousy London lawyer Alice Love gets her identity stolen and finds her true self in this rocky tale of trust, personality makeovers, and a lying globe-trotting thief. "She didn't leave me any worse off, in the end," Alice says of Ella, a work pal who makes off with Alice's credit card info to set up a new life in Hollywood. But before the ruse is over, Alice retaliates by morphing into a compulsive stalker, taking on Ella's identity, and discovering that a lot of little lies add up to a whole lot of fun. The transformation nearly costs her the love of a good man, but Alice comes (nearly) to her senses by the time she corners her arch-frenemy. McDonald (The Popularity Rules) keeps the pace brisk, but a plot busy with an international chase and Alice's many reinventions proves on occasion too much to handle, and Ella, paradoxically, proves a more intriguing character than Alice. What works best is what lies beneath all the frantic action: a good old-fashioned romantic page-turner

Sheltered from the outside world with no hope for escape, slave girl Reychel dreads her fifteenth birthday - when her master’s symbol is burned on the back of her bald scalp. Her best friend disappears the night before, leaving her to face the branding ceremony alone. She soon discovers nothing is as it seems when people desperate for freedom beg for Reychel's help.

Once we'd stowed my stuff in the back of my car, Ethan opened the car door and waited for me to get in. Even though I wanted to ask him so many questions, I was afraid to speak. It felt like we'd moved to a whole new level in our friendship, but I wasn't sure what that level was.

Every nerve ending urged me to hug him, to show my appreciation, but I was unsure. Would he pull away? I didn't need any more rejection in my life. "Thank you for being there," I said in an unsteady voice.

Ethan clasped my wrist and pulled me into his arms, holding me close. "I'll always be here for you."

I shuddered against his chest, mumbling into his flannel shirt. "You weren't at school and I didn't see you after practice. I thought for sure no one would hear me scream when those guys finally got their hands on--"

Warm fingers tilted my chin up. "I had something to do today, but I'd never leave you hanging. When I saw your stuff on the field and then I heard a guy yelling, 'She went this way,' in the woods..." he paused, tensing. "I freaked."

"You got to me just in time." I tried to smile but my lips trembled. "Who knew knights wore flannel shirts and Led Zeppelin tees?" I knew I sounded like a goof, but I didn't care. I wanted him to know how much his rescue meant to me.

Ethan leaned close and I closed my eyes as he lightly kissed my cheekbone, then my forehead. He had no idea that his gentle kiss had melted something inside me, how much I craved the physical connection. His warm lips lingered against my skin for a second before he took a step back and shoved his hands in his jean pockets.

"I'm no hero, Nara." His gaze narrowed briefly toward the woods. "Go home. I'll see you tomorrow."

In her latest effort, Rallison returns to themes of sibling rivalry and romance, familiar to readers of Revenge of the Cheerleaders (2007). Here, though, she adds fractured-fairy-tale magic to the breezy plot. Sixteen-year-old Savannah is devastated when her boyfriend dumps her for her studious older sister, and she dreams that her life will take a fairy-tale turn, complete with a handsome prince, a ball, and a happy ending. Her wishes bring the astonishing arrival of Chrissy, an aspiring fairy godmother. Still in training and not quite in command of her magical abilities, Chrissy sends Savannah through a chain of otherworldly mishaps, including visits to Cinderella and Snow White’s stories and finally to the Middle Ages, where Savannah defeats a cast of magical creatures and discovers that regular guys are sometimes preferable to princes. Memos from Chrissy and her professors alternate with Savannah’s often hilarious narrative. The irreverent references to familiar tales, romantic twists, and frequent comedic asides will delight fans of light fantasy, as will the likable characters, who move beyond stereotype.

Sometimes size does matter…

Stephen couldn’t walk by the old pirate, outnumbered and losing a fight. Of course he had to help. He didn’t expect a ‘thank you’ for saving the Captain’s life, and he sure didn’t expect a gift, especially a gift like this! How could it be fairies are real, and yet he had no idea?

She is so beautiful… and so tiny. There’s no reason to stick together, except that Trisha might need his help, at least for the time being to stay safe. Besides, she can help him find his brother. But when they track him down, a secret comes out. The pirates want their fairy back and his brother is mixed up in the mess of it.

Everyone wants to find that special one, but “Phen” and Trisha both know they’re dreaming. How can they make a love like this work? And that’s a question for when they’re lives aren’t in danger.

I do Believe I got all these books threw amazon.com for .99cents! Wohoo me! watch for there reviews

The Body Finder!

So I am Back if you have not seen... I just finished The Body Finder

A gripping tale of a girl with a morbid ability that could lead her to a killer . . . and the boy who would never let anything happen to her.
Sixteen-year-old Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her unusual so-called gift. While her confusing feelings for her best friend are new, she has been able to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered—and the imprints that attach to their killers since she was a little girl. Violet has never considered her ability useful, but now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Fiercely protective of her, Jay agrees to help Violet search for the murderer. But even as she's falling in love, Violet is getting closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.  From amazon.com

I was a little afraid to read this book. I have heard mixed reviews on it. However I liked it! It was not one that I can say was an all time favorite but it was very good.  The friendship that Violet and Jay start out with remind me of a friendship I had when I was in high school as well. I loved the connection that they had. However it was kind of strange to me at first how he just kept popping up in places when she thought no one was following her. I at one point thought the killer was going to be Jay.  I think that the way she finds the bodies is different I could total see her becoming a detective using her skills and not telling anyone how she finds them. Violet I am surprised I thought she would have been more of a cast out then what she was a little geekier.  I wish there would have been more of a confrontation between Lissie and Violet I would have liked to see that.  But all in all this book was alright. I also for the first time put the book trailer with the review.

Friday Review

Welcome to Friday Review #1
I am excited to be able to give you my review on Mitzi Penzes book Perfectly Crazy.

I have to start off by saying Thank You for letting me review this book!

Now for the fun stuff

I normally would not read this type of book it just for me has to much gushy love blah in it. Yes thats what I said love blah. But..... there was a purpose to it and I understood it. I am not one for romance novels and that is what I would categorize this as is a romance novel. Its a short book and didn't take me very long to read. I have to say I can see this being made into a movie I would love to see Helen Hunt play Nell oh and George Clooney play David I could so see that.  There were a lot of likes and some dislikes in this book you already heard my dislikes to much love blah. So for my likes. I have to say that I got the way Nell felt about David and how she just knew he was it for her. I felt that it was great that in the end it was a happy ending it wasnt something that left you hanging you got what you wanted and that was it. I didnt like how fast into the book that Nells husband died. I just thought that was to soon. However I did see why it happened as fast as it did. It was to much of the cards just being laid out there was not enough twists and turns for me I think I needed a little more I could see the story line coming. I have to say though if romance is your thing this is the book for you cause there is enough sex in it for my life time. So with that here is the goods from amazon.com on the book and please enjoy...

Sexy, stylish and successful, Nell always prided herself on her common sense. So why is she suddenly crazy for David, her married best friend of twenty years? With a single kiss, Nell s perfect Californian life turns upside down. All the safety of her well-adjusted marriage to a respected plastic surgeon and her growing fashion business pale in comparison to the passion experienced in that kiss. Can she go on as before, or will she make the biggest change of her life? Will she face disaster and tragedy, or perhaps adventure and a second chance? Or possibly both? Find out from this fast paced book where the sceneries are changing as fast as the movies. Life is full of surprises and challenges that anyone would call perfectly crazy yet they may become reality one day. Or will they?

Sunday Fun Day Review #2

Because it is Sunday and I just finished a great book I had to use the picture of this Sundae. You will see why here and just few. But first let me say how grateful I am to the followers of my blog! So thank you to those who have been following me and reading my reviews and my rambles. So on with what your here for.

Amaliya wakes under the forest floor, disoriented, famished and confused. She digs out of the shallow grave and realizes she is hungry...

... in a new, horrific, unimaginable way...

Sating her great hunger, she discovers that she is now a vampire, the bloodthirsty creature of legend. She has no choice but to flee from her old life and travels across Texas. Her new hunger spurs her to leave a wake of death and blood behind her as she struggles with her new nature.

All the while, her creator is watching. He is ancient, he is powerful, and what's worse is that he's a necromancer. He has the power to force the dead to do his bidding. Amaliya realizes she is but a pawn in a twisted game, and her only hope for survival is to seek out one of her own kind.

But if Amaliya finds another vampire, will it mean her salvation... or her death?

I have to say this is the most amazing Vampire book I have read in a long long time.  Rhiannon Frater you have blown my mind thank you!  This book had me hooked from start to finish.  You come in on Amaliya who is burried alive or is she... I picture this girl with her long dark hair and her blue eyes walking home in a daze. Amaliya is is a girl on the run unaware of what has happened to her and very much afraid of what she is.
Amaliya has a need to feel the love for her family but her family is not family anymore. Her dad after Amaliya's mom passed away he marries her moms cousin I know right confusing. It just goes to show how much her dad doesnt care for her. After going to her dad (sicko) for help and to tell him she is keeping his truck lets just say things dont go well from there. She ends up in a motel room with her crush who is also her brothers best friend. She lets just say ends up on the run again. Back out on the road she starts to learn more and more that she is a vampire. She only knows what she has read in books like how she cant go out in sunlight and she has no reflection in mirrors so on. She finds herself going to visit her grandma and her cousin.  You realize how much she loves her grandma and her cousin. It was funny how Amaliya tried to eat a bean and then her grandma says see I told you she was dead. I mean really her Grandma is so kick ass. I was so excited about this book because I am so sick of Edward and Bella and wimpy vampire books I was glad this was not like that. This had all the great steamy vampire blood lust in it and I loved every  single page of it.  I mean really a hot steamy sexy lets roll around and let me bite you and you can bite me drink my blood all inside of this room that keeps the sunlight out. Freaking rocked my world amazing and I have to say if you have not read this go get it and read it really!!!!
Soooo the reason for picking the Sundae was because this book was a amazing a a hot fudge sundae. I have to say this is the best Vampire book I have read in a long long time!

Strange Case Of Finley Jane

AMAZING!!!!!!
I loved this book this is a must read! I love Finley Jane seriously as a person she was great. I loved how the dark side would come in affect with her and she would take control as if she was part robot. From the first page I was hooked who else has the balls to punch someone in the mouth hard enough to knock someones teeth in. I could picture every part of this book from the steam powered horses and so on.
Finley Jane just a girl who minds her own until she is hired by a well off Lady to be her daughters companion
only to find she is more or less her and her daughter protector from Lady Phoebe's   soon to be husband. Crazy  yes a little. Amazing packed with mystery and a little action I cant wait to read the next one. The girl in the Steele corset. I am in love STEAM PUNK all the way!

From Amazon.com
Finley Jayne knows she's not 'normal'. Normal girls don't lose time, or have something inside them that makes them capable of remarkably violent things. Her behavior has already cost her one job, so when she's offered the lofty position of companion to Phoebe, a debutante recently engaged to Lord Vincent, she accepts, despite having no experience. Lord Vincent is a man of science with his automatons and inventions, but Finley is suspicious of his motives where Phoebe is concerned. She will do anything to protect her new friend, but what she discovers is even more monstrous than anything she could have imagined…

Telling Lies

Ok so before I start this blog post let me say Thank you to my followers for being so patient with me. I was and still am having some medical complications in my life right now. So I am hoping to get back on track here real soon.

Ok So I have to say Thank you to Tribute books for giving me the chance to be apart of this books blog tour and my first one at that. I was so excited I got to read this book. I love a good murder mystery thriller book right in the start of fall.  So with that being said lets get on with it.

 AMAZING!!!!!!!
Action packed. I loved this book from start to finish. The people and locations are written to where you feel you are there. The way this book flows is amazing. First I can see myself both as Laura and as Helen I think if they could have been one character it would have been even more amazing .  This story starts and confuses me a just with some of the language they use.  I really enjoyed the connection between Laura and Aaron you could feel the tension between them weather it be sexual or a fight ready to happen. Helen was a surprise for me I loved the way she jumps over the counter to catch her bad guy. Aaron however I was disappointed with I expected more from him. I wanted more from him that is.  The chase was on to get to the guy who escaped 9/11/2001 terror attacks that caused the twin towers to fall Mike was one of the many that was assumed dead that was until Laura runs into him in a gallery in Italy. Want to talk about a women who wont let go of something she almost drives me  insane with the way she hunts him down. Time after time she is putting herself in situations that just scream you dummy get out of there.  This book twist and turns and takes you for a ride in every page. I am so glad I got to read this. Oh and one more thing with this book sometimes things are not as they seem.

I hope you enjoy this book if you read it and really if you like anything like Thriller Mystery Suspense you will love this.

Description from Amazon.comHow many lies does it take to get away with murder? Magazine Editor Laurel Imperiole is vacationing in Florence, Italy, with Aaron Gerrard, Chief of Detectives of New York City's 13th Precinct Identity Theft Squad. A chance encounter brings Laurel to a startling realization: she's just bumped into a dead man: Jeff Sargasso, an art dealer and husband of a close friend who supposedly died in the World Trade Center on 9/11. When he vanished, Sargasso had been brokering the sale of a priceless masterpiece that was lost during World War II to CEO Alfred Hammersmith and billionaire Miayamu Moto. Hammersmith perished along with Sargasso on 9/11, and it is believed that the access codes to the $15 million deposit--ten percent of the asking price--died with them. Could Sargasso have faked his own death to steal the money? The painting's whereabouts are unknown. Laurel enlists the help of private detective Helen McCorkendale, and together they follow the threads that lead from Florence, Italy, to New York. On the way, the women tangle with Israeli Mossad agent Lior Stern and several stop-at-nothing collectors. All are determined to have the painting for themselves. Ignoring Aaron's advice, Laurel puts their volatile relationship in jeopardy. As Helen and Laurel search for Sargasso, the painting and the money, they find themselves enmeshed in a sinister skein of lies that could end in death.

Follow me Friday!

Q. Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story?  If so, which one?

I have to say no. I dont think any book I have read I have wanted a villain to win.  Sorry to disappoint but I have not really read a book with a villain that I liked. Sad but true. Besides if a villain wins what fun would that be. Unless they are a misunderstood villain who should have been a good guy.

Been Awhile

So sorry its be awhile since my last post. Had a little bit of a hectic week last week. It was my daughters birthday on Wednesday and we had her party on Saturday. So with all that being said that was why I have not had a moment to post anything on here.  However I did have time to look at amazon.com this morning. I only got one book. I am planing on going out later today if I am feeling better and going to the book rack! Its a place we have here in Moline that sells pre read books that are in good condition. Oh and they are cheap I don't think I have spent over 4.00 on a book which is pretty good. Ok so for now I am going to hold off on my In My Mailbox and save that post for later today.

My First ARC Review

So I am SUPER excited to say that I got a chance to read this book. So with out further ado
A modern retelling of the German fairy tale "Tristan and Isolde," Tris and Izzie is about a young witch named Izzie who is dating Mark King, the captain of the basketball team and thinks her life is going swimmingly well. Until -- she makes a love potion for her best friend Brangane and then ends up taking it herself accidentally, and falling in love with Tristan, the new guy at school.    goodreads.com

I first just want to say Thank you Mette Ivie Harrison! This book was amazing I couldn't put it down. It had all the right elements to this book. Love, hate, magic, and action all at the right moments. I have never been so happy to see two characters end up together. I loved Izzie for her trying to stay with mark and not fall for Tris but really come one if you burn for someone then you should go for it. However the steps it took for her to realize who she was really burning for took her awhile. Part of the book I wanted to jump in and go girl what the heck have you not seen him.The other half was like well are you going to kiss him already or what. I loved the way this book flowed I could see each thing as it took place from the "pit" where everyone hangs out, to the school being crushed by a supposed earth quake.  I hope to read a continuation of this story soon I wold love to see what Tris and Izzie are up to in the next book along with the others. I have to say that this is a great YA book with just the right elements in it to keep you reading.

So here is a little Summary from me....

Izzie is just your normal everyday high schooler in love with the star basketball player who is the most popular boy in school and has a great best friend. Izzie's mom well she is a witch and her dad well he died trying to save Izzie.  One day while coming off the bus and walking toward her boyfriend Izzie sees this boy who is just out of place handsome and all she starts falling for him right away. Izzie however had other plans for him. She was going to give her best friend some love potion ( taken from her moms cabinet and give it to him and her) little does she know that she would end up being the one to drink it. Not long after this there are things that start happening around her and Tris. She finds out what she really is and what really happened to her dad.
