My Birthday Review

The Department of Lost & Found By Allison Winn Scotch. This book put me in a place I wasnt sure I wanted to revisit. It touched places near and also a place that was shut out in me. I cried in a few parts of this book along with laughter. I would read this book a hundred times over again. I may just have to do that.
With Natalie only being 30 years old diagnosis breast cancer and stuck in her career and her ever failing relationships I never thought she would get the picture. Honestly the way she says over and over again I have cancer makes you feel as if cancer is her other half. To know some of the things a cancer patient  goes threw to see the details of the things that just make Natalies life hell and takes away her spark. Only to see that her old boyfriend Jake bring it back. You hold out and hope that she will find herself  find her footing amoungst all of the crap she is going threw. I have never been so tempted to want to jump in a book and just smack a person. I know the honesty that has to be carried out with a cancer patient, the fact is you cant let it control you the way she does. I never really got  to see what my Aunt went thew to know the side effects from her chemo she had but after reading this it opened up those doors. My Aunt has been gone for 5 years now and it has taken me this long to even listen to anything that had to do with cancer. I think for most people they are faced with knowing someone who has it or they have it themselves. This book puts you in the moment from the steps she takes with each one of her relationships to the choices she makes in her health care. She is a strong willed women on the verge of falling apart. While she is falling a part she looks for the answers to why her relationships never worked. Not to realize the one good thing she needs is right in front of her the whole time. I think if your ready for a full on feelings fest this is a great book. She drags you threw the emotions of the treatments to the hell Natalie has in her relationships weather it be with her parents, friends, coworkers, or former boyfriends. Allison weaves you a story that you can envision stepping into for more then just the moment. Descriptive and honest just the way I like my writers. I felt the pain that battles inside of Natalie when she talks relationships along with the way she feels about her relationships with men.

This book was a complete surprise to me. I was not sure if I was ready to read this to come to terms with what not only my Aunt had but the fact that my Grandfather passed from cancer along with sitting next to a living breathing survivor everyday. I think this book will make you respect those who you know have gone threw and battled this  and won. Allison puts a good spin on the ending but hey I will leave that to you to read.

AMAZING BOOK IS THE BEST WAY TO SUM THIS ONE UP!!!!!

Ok so I just have to say this now. I had to use Badtz Maru I just did he is so cute, that and this is how I feel on Wednesday!  Now with that out of the way I know this is on pretty much everyone's TBR list but I was not sure of it until I looked at upcoming raves on this book. I have seen may book bloggers comment on this book and such so I am going with it to. In waiting for the arrival of the day that this book comes out or I can find a way to win a copy of this book I will just kick back read all my other books until then.

I have to say the cover in its self drew me in.
Then as I read more about it how can you pass it up pretty girl and a ZOMBIE lover! Amazing. Ok so I have a feeling that everyone will be reviewing this after it comes out which is fan freaking tastic cause it just shows that this book is going to be HOT HOT HOT!! So I thought I would post one of these "In My Mailbox" even though I read most of my stuff on my Kindle. Hey what the heck I bought three books on Friday due to the Big Sale on amazon.com.

Again these are Ebooks. I do believe you can get them in regular book format also.  I have to take a serious break from the paranormal and urban fantsay stuff. Its starting to work its way into my sleep an some nights I am not sleeping so well.. I am hoping that I will be able to get some giveaway books or that some publishers will start sending some books for me to review. All a girl can do is hope.

Fallen Star

Just Finished today! The Fallen Star By Jessica Sorensen!

For eighteen year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up until recently, she has been incapable of feeling emotion. And when she’s around Alex, the gorgeous new guy at school, she can feel electricity that makes her skin buzz. Not to mention the monsters that haunt her nightmares have crossed over into real-life. But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma’s life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn’t be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death.

I fell in love with this book just by looking at the cover. I was enticed by the girl with the purple eyes.  I was not impressed to start out with. However the book grew on me as we went on. I loved the sparks that happen between Gemma and Alex the way you can feel how she feels when he brushes the back of her neck.  I don't think I cared for her visions and how she jumped in and out of them at first but it did help with the telling of the story. I had a feeling of where the book was going as I read on. I was not really surprised by the charters in the book or the way the story played out. The teenaged angst and anguish was enough to kill me at some points. I really felt for Gemma as she watched herself in some of her visions. I honstly had a hard time getting threw this book but I think its because it didn't have enough action at first there is so many times you can read about the Death Walkers in the forest coming to get her. 

I have a few excerpts from the book to share with you..

Don't get me wrong; I could still walk, talk, breathe, and function, I just couldn't feel any emotions. Ever.

I had felt the strangest thing I had ever felt-- this overwhelming sadness building up inside me. Seconds later, I was crying, real tears and everything. It was weird.

My legs were way too long, My skin far to pale, and my eyes.... they were violet. yes weird, I know.  But it fit right in with everything else that had to do with me. 

Now I know eavesdroppin is very bad. And I did feel a little bit bad for doing it but who on earth would be talking about me; me  Gemma Lucas the invisible-barley- known girl that hardly spoke to anyone.

" For the same reason you didn't know what ;your were. People are excellent at keeping secrets."  "Yes they are." I agreed

I quickly turned my head away, feeling stupid. Could it be true? Could I be sittin in the desert next to a vampire, all while harboring the energy of a fallen star inside me?

and lastly the final one

What if I was allowed to have those kinds of feelings for him? the ones that I was feeling right now, but knew I wasn't supposed to be feeling.  Would things have been different between us?

Oh It time for a new book post

Ok so I seen this book on a friends good read list and started looking at it and wow does it look good... so I am going to post this for a book to watch for! Something new!

I do know that the Lovely Ashley over at http://bookish-brunette.blogspot.com/ Did post this on her blog and well I am going to follow along because this seems like a very very good book. I am excited to read this...

I will however have to wait until Feb. of 2012 for this to come out but its on my list!

Going to be gone awhile

I am going to be gone for awhile loads of things have come up with the next two months. My moms birthday was today her party well is Saturday. My birthday is the 30th of this month. My anniversary is the 19th of this month. I also got asked to do a hoop dancing demo so I have that on my plate along with a few other things this month. My husband is in need of my photography skills for his non profit BMX program. and well next month is kind of crazy planning my daughters second birthday party which is the end of august. I just know I wont have a lot of time to read or write. I will post if I finish something I promise I just wont be able to be here daily.  But keep your eyes pealed for posts they will be here as often as I can.

Review of Tales of Aradia: The Last Witch

Tales of Araid The Last Witch By L.A Jones
This is a story that starts out in the Salem witch trials era. I was concerned when this started that it was going to be a history novel. This was not what I expected. There was some very graphic parts in the novel. I found a connection to Aradia with the way she felt about her high school when she moves to Salem. She walks in to see those that are there walking around like she is not even there, yet some look at her like she is walking around with a sign on her forehead.  Amazing that this book puts the all of the different fantasy characters together in one book let alone in one high school. In so many ways this book was written well but there are many spots where the book had misspellings and smashed together words.  The description of  how she took her energy out the way she runs threw the forest I can hear the music playing and feel the strength in the way she gets her anger out. Aradia befriends/makes a enamy with a fae. She also falls for a warewolf and a vampire. Sound at all familar??? Well it doesnt really go that way. This does leave it open for another book which is fine. I however dont see myself reading the second book.  Over all not a bad free book for kindle. I give this a half a tumbs up. A good YA UF but just to familar for me.

Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?
A. I would have to say its New Moon By Stephine Meyer. I have to say I got caught up in all of Twilight hoopla.. I finished it although it took me a little over six months! I was so disappointed reading this I did not want to read the third or fourth book after this one. Sorry Stephine.

Now on to the review!!!! I have to say I have never been so excited to read a book! I just finished Songbird by Angela Fristoe. I have never read a book so fast. I am really shocked this is not a book that I would read typically. I was excited because I had read other book blogs who had read this book and said it was amazing. Well you were right this book was amazing. I was sucked in the first two pages had my attention. The way you feel for Dani when she watches her brother killed. You feel her pain from the different foster homes she is in. The flood of emotion she has for Reece. We all have had high school crushes and teenage drama but Dani is so confused she doesn't know who to trust in her life. She leans on the boy she loves and looses sight of what is really going on she tries to replace her memories of Jace (her brother) with Reece only to realize she is just trying to turn Reece into her brother. The way this story is told I can see every move, color, face shape and the way she moves. Her heart is in so many places torn between her family, her best friend and her dead brother who still holds a big chunk of her heart. I wont say how this ends but lets say I kind of had a feeling she would be happy in the long run. I am glad I took the time to read this book even though it took me little time to get threw. I would have to say if you had to classify this book it would be YA book. I loved it! oh and one big Thank you to Ashley from Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing. Because of your review I read this book as to if I would have seen this on my Kindle list I don't think I would have.

Thurday Morning

So I have had a bit of a crazy weekend and didnt get started on my next book which I am still currently reading until yesterday. So with all that being said my hopes of having this book finished in time for my next review is pushing me harder toget this done. I am currently reading a wonderful book so far its Songbird by Angela Fristoe

I was browsing other book blogs when I stumbled upon this blog and felt in complete awe of her amazing blog and talent with her way with words check her out if you havent. Basically Amazing I found that she had reviewed this book and I wanted to see if I had the same review as her. So lets hope that I will.

Sunday Fun

I am taking a little break this weekend from my books but its only because its family weekend. However I did get time to sit and watch Burlesque! With that being said I did like the movie but coming from someone who has worked a real Burlesque show here in the Quad Cities this is not any thing like there shows. As I have told many people they wouldnt be able to show that much skin unless it was R rated maybe X rated some times. However I do have a thing for Cam Gigandet he is HOTTTTTT! So for my blog readers here is just something Nice to look at for Sunday! Well A few somethings!!! Cam is just one

oh and I will never ever forget this man PAUL WALKER SO HOTT!!!

Saturday Review

Blood That Bonds
by Christopher Buecheler


I got this book as a recommendation from a friend on Shelfari.com. Two is the girls name which from the start had me interested. I was surprised at how the story started with Two working as a street walker. A pimp who beats her while she is addicted to heroin.  The pictures this book paints in you head when you first start reading is very graphic. The book then takes a turn to the Pretty Women side but with Vampires. She gets picked up by a wealthy man in a Ferrari however he is a you guessed it a vampire Two falls instantly in love with Theron (the vampire) he takes her and starts driving and takes her to get food. Then he feeds off her!
The book then slowed down for me took me a little longer to read all the rebirth and history of Theron. Not that it wasn't interesting because it was. I just think I was expecting a bit more action.  After awhile you meet other vampires and well the ending seamed to drag a little to almost like you got the ending to the first part of Two's life and a ending to the second part in Twos life.  I know that there is a second book in this however I don't think I will be reading it. I enjoyed this book I just think I got for the most part the closure with the character.  Christopher does leave it open for the second book. My love for Two and Theron however was what I wanted to see continue. I did not expect the ending that I got which was nice it was different the couple to live happily ever after well you will have to see that just for your self. I may read the second book just to see how Two is doing.
I have to say if your into vampires and the back history of them then this is a good book. However if your wanting more action i would choose something else.  I don't think it will get a two thumbs up from me maybe just one. I wouldn't read it again however I don't feel my time was wasted reading it.
